I'm back

Hi everyone I am back from visiting the in laws. It was nice to see everyone. There were two new babies to see-- 5 weeks and 12 weeks- although the poor 5 week old ended up going to the doctor while we were visiting and had ear infections. Poor thing. One family stopped by on Thursday to visit since they had a mini vacation planned that made it so they couldn't attend the picnic held at one SIL's house on Friday. We did get to see everyone, including a family that left Myrtle Beach a bit early to get home in time for the get together. 

The drive was long and I will have to make a total rant on other people's driving... that many hours in the car gave me plenty of fodder for that rant. LOL
I will do a post about the Sephora mascara kit I purchased (and received before leaving)- do my typical mascara review. 
We got back Saturday afternoon and in the mail was DD's ACT score. She took it June 13th and got the results--- she got a 30 composite score. This was her first time taking it and she just finished her sophomore year. Both DH and I took it after finishing our Junior years and scored a 29. Now she may be able to tell me that she IS smarter than me/DH but I think she's smart enough NOT to do that. LOL I was so proud of her and she's going to take it again after taking trig to hopefully get a better score on the math part... a score of 32 or above means a lot of scholarship money- pretty much a full ride if she goes in state. 
I will also post my painting tips. I do want to try to do the roman shades for the boys' room  this week so I can have that all finished up except the stair painting.  Hope everyone is doing well. - Dayna

Woohoo! for your daughter--- I remember being on pins and needles when I was waiting for the results of the various standardized exams for applying to college. You're right; it makes such a difference when it comes to $$. Yay for your family! :-)

I was so excited for her. I hate being the mom that says "oh, my kids are smart" and then have a standardized test saying "not so" so I tend to not say much about my kids being smart. So now I've got some proof. LOL
I gave her the envelope and started unpacking. She came into my room with a big smile so I knew she was pleased.

Congrats to your daughter. In Tx- it's SAT's. I graduated in Iowa though and took ACT-don't remember my score -that was eons ago, lol. You are allowed to be proud!

I didn't realize TX was SAT-- I thought that was more for East Coast. I know each test is somewhat slanted to certain areas of the country. Personally I preferred the SAT (only took "Pre" ones) because English on ACT is "editing" and sometimes the writing is so awkward that I wouldn't know how to get out of it. I'd never write that way so wasn't sure what they wanted.
