Hi all, it's been pretty chaotic here... my brother called last Tuesday saying they MAY be stopping by on Thursday. He left conversation saying he'd let me know further details later. Thursday morning I called him and he said they would arrive in the late afternoon after picking up the tractor he'd bought nearby. We went out to dinner that night and they left Friday morning. While I was checking email, my cell rings and my brother is asking where the nearest Dodge dealership is-- his truck won't go any faster than 50 mph. To keep this brief, the part wouldn't come in until the next morning-so my brother and family would be spending the day and night= so we headed to Mammoth Cave National Park for the afternoon. Can you believe this is the first time I have toured the cave? We've lived within 45 minutes of the park twice-- over 8 years of being that close- and I have only done this unguided tour of just the main entrance. So at least the truck breakdown ended up being a nice thing since we all enjoyed the cave tour.
I am now on week 8 of using Enormous Lash but admit that I have not been using religiously twice a day as instructed. Typically I am not applying once a day and you can see that it is enough. My lashes have gotten way long and what I notice in my FOTD photos is how big of a difference the extra lash length makes. It's like I have false lashes with just a single coat of mascara.
Just wanted to let you all know that I've listed/swatched etc all the lip colors that are available over at the Dayna's Minerals Blog
I seem to have been MIA for a while. Today I realized I hadn't done a FOTD photo since Feb. 23-- what the hell happened to me? Really nothing much-- last week I spent much of it fussing with my computer because I got VMWare Fusion to allow me to go from Mac to Windows easily. What I found is that it totally made things bad on both sides. So then I wasted a day reinstalling stuff- only to find that I am still not happy with things. Sunday, I got a lecture of sorts from DH about how I should just get Microsoft Office for Mac (which they do make) and do all my stuff that way. I of course was like "but they don't make label software for Mac and I plan to start doing invoices that way and, and, and" DH says "You should be able to do all those things from office" Me-- but the labels are on these special templates that have the sizes/layouts. DH assures me that I can easily recreate these templates without the hassles of PC lockups and all the reasons why I went to Mac in the first place. When I asked about the invoice stuff, he said I could also do these and if I planned to do them electronically I could get a PDF software to do this... rather than invoice software itself. He said one guy who does jobs for his business sends invoices this way.
I was asked to do some swatches on skin so I started with my glows.
First Illumination, Golden Zephyr, Violet Vesper and Cloud Nine. Swatched on arm-- fairly heavily applied.
Fingers dipped in colors
Next Peachy Sheen, Whisper Pink, and Beach (not glow but matte bronzer)
Fingers dipped in colors.
Last Golden Summer, Bronzed Goddess and Dusky
Fingers dipped in minerals
Finally a few attempts to show sheen-- Illumination Glow applied to left hand and none to right hand.

On DD's hands- see how youthful skin has a dewy look already...
Hope that helps!
Kids are happy today because they got to stay home from school due to icy conditions. I decided to take a few photos to share with you all.
It's getting chilly in Hoozey-ville and I'm not quite ready for it but maybe I should be--- it is nearly mid November. LOL. Christmas has been on my mind. We always take our gifts up to in-laws at Thanksgiving so I have to have all my shopping (for them) done before then. Seeing that I am quite the fan of online shopping, I usually try to get my ordering in at least by now. I have MIL shopped for-- 1 gallon natural liquid soap from Vermont Soap- still need to scent with anise. I also bought several pairs of earrings and a silver bracelet last week- most of which have arrived. FIL is harder to purchase for and Sunday DH called his mom to see if there was anything good to get him.... MIL said just to give him gas cards. That way when he goes fishing he doesn't feel like he's really spending money- so I guess we're done shopping for him in a way. I did buy one of his favorite movies- "Evil Roy Slade" which is not readily available- so that at least will be a little personal thing for him.
DH seems to be taking care of his own Christmas gifts this year. He's bought 4 nice chess sets and one board this past year-- they make him happy and so I guess I'll just forgo buying him anything because he also likes not "wasting" money. So if I don't buy him anything, he'll think of it as a gift because I didn't "waste" money on crap he wouldn't have bought for himself. I did get a little something that I think he'll enjoy- these marble chess piece sculptures I found at TJ Maxx. With them I will give him a coupon to pick which knick knacks to take away from glass built in shelves in the den to display the sculptures. My mom bought a lot of small statues/sculptures when she went to England. Her BF is English and he's kind of made her believe all things English are just so special-- so I have a china cabinet and a couple of shelves filled with various trinkets she brought back to us. DH prefers understated and less-- so giving him the opportunity to get rid of some of the knick knacks will also be a present for him.
DD wants a varsity coat--- so I need to check into that. Depends on the price. I have purchased a few small gifts for her including a fabulous brush set from WalMart. Friday I was checking out the "handy gift aisle" there-- you know the seasonal aisle of things like perfume sets, manicure sets, bath and body gift baskets, etc because they usually have makeup brush sets.
BRUSH HO BARGAIN ALERT!!! I found a 10 SYNTHETIC brush gift set with brush case for $15- actually it's 11 brushes if you consider the little tester brush hanging on the outside-- great little "flick the mistakes away" brush. The handles are white but the bristles (case) come in several colors. I bought two of these sets- White/brown bristles (silver case) for myself and pink/white (pink case) for DD. I've already busted mine out and used. UBER-Soft ladies!!! Well worth purchasing just for the 3 larger brushes- powder, large blush brush and blush brush. There was a third color of blue/white bristles (tempted since it'd coordinate with DD's bath but thought pink was cuter.) I always check out this area at Christmas because you do find great brushes like these. The boys' are probably going to get a drum machine so they can compose songs with drums since finding a drummer tends to be hard at this age. I also have DH convinced that private guitar lessons would be a beneficial thing for the boys. Middle son can play music by ear but I think he'd benefit from learning how to read/write music. Younger son would certainly benefit from having someone besides older brother directing his playing... I often hear "You aren't playing it right" from middle son and it makes youngest cranky. LOL. Also the instructor would combine their lessons about once a month to work them together--- I really like the instructor because he customizes the lessons to the individuals. DH also talks about getting middle son a bowling ball- I think DH just wants to ensure a bowling ally for every weekend when DH says "Let's go bowling." LOL
I desire a new computer-- but a recent incident makes me want to go with a Mac. Last Christmas my mom bought the kids an Xbox 360. We'd already bought two of the old consoles because the first one went on the fritz about 18 months after getting and then #2 went out last year. You can no longer buy the old (much cheaper) consoles and since we'd already invested plenty of money in the various games (that's where they get you hooked in) it made "sense" for my mom to combine gift and just get a 360 console. Sunday I was cleaning and vacuuming the basement and found a "letter" from Middle Son-- it starts out... "Dear @$$hole" and proceeds to explain how since youngest was last to play Xbox he needed to tell me that it wasn't working. Yeah, not really fond of the language but more upset about the fact that I wasn't informed the xbox was broken... a year tends to be a lot of warranty cutoffs. I showed DH the letter which actually amused him... I guess he remembers that boys can be boys and after getting him to stop chuckling at the letter we discussed Xbox/Microsoft in general. I told him I would look into any warranty service but if it was no longer under warranty I would be selling the games at the track team's garage sale- I was D*O*N*E with Xbox since it's been nothing but crap! I checked and because they've had so many 360 consoles not work they extended the warranty for certain issues for 3 years-- but under original warranty it was 1 year, if I hadn't found the "letter" they'd be pushing it- Dec. 19. I spent about 20 minutes on the phone last night- 10 just waiting for a person- trying to get repair-- only to get at the very end- "Our system isn't working right now so I can't take repair requests. You will have to call back tomorrow." WTF????
Anyhoo- said discussion about what crap Xbox is lead to general discussion of how I hate Microsoft also-- we all know about Vista nightmare and I certainly don't want to have that as my operating system on a new computer. So I did say how I'd been thinking about what I'd like for Christmas and it would be a computer just for me--- and I'd really like a Mac. DH seems to be OK with that-- our first computer was a Mac and it was still running when we got rid of it- bought in '95 and had 10 years- and that was when Mac had to have it's own software. PC we bought around 2000/2001 was inoperable by 2006. This notebook that we bought in late 2005/early 2006 has already had to be repaired and I experienced panic this spring too. It seems every time DH gets on it, the next time I use, it's slow. Plus there are times when DH is playing internet chess and I could be doing work if I had my own computer. This weekend he was cranky because Saturday night after dropping DD off at party I picked up boys from friend's house. I got to chatting with parents for about 1 hour and DH was pissy because I wasn't around to pay attention to him. So that's kind of how "computer time" is too-- if he's occupied (working out/playing chess with his new pieces) I can get on computer without his feeling neglected- but I can't be on the computer when he is playing internet chess and it seems like a prime opportunity to get some work done on the weekends. We'll see if I get my Christmas wish. I have read how Macs are often what computer repair guys use because they are more reliable- so that's what I am looking for--- I don't need bells and whistles- just reliable.
Funny story- as you know I dabble with melt and pour soaps. Last week I did a small batch of emu soap and had this mold on kitchen counter top Friday night when DH was home. Before I could stop him I see him grab a little overpour piece and put into mouth. I am immediately thinking "WTF?" and he says "Is this wax?" Dayna "NO, it's SOAP." and DH "pwwttt" (spit) into sink. Then he says "Why'd you let me eat it?" Dayna- "I was too stunned. What did you think it was because you asked if it was wax? Why would you eat wax?" DH thought it was WHITE CHOCOLATE
. LMAO!!! Middle son later says "Doesn't Dad know you make soap?" See my kids know not to assume anything in my kitchen. LOLMade a new blush color which I call Polka Dot. It can be seen in several of the following looks. Orders are slow so I've been doing organizing and stocking/making colors. In making stock I was noticing something... even following a recipe I was noticing a difference in color. It was really frustrating me because I was thinking all my recipes were inaccurate. Then I did a little experiment. I used the new blender on "old" colors-- just dumped old stock color and remixed with new blender--- guess what--- the color immediately matched the recipe I mixed up with the new blender. So if a foundation or blush looks different to your eye in the jar from what you have had in the past, don't fret--- it's just that the new mixer I use now is actually much better.
Yesterday I received my MMBB order of Immortelle spray/AHA cleanser and trials of new setting sprays--- HAPPY ME!! Haven't done makeup yet but have used Immortelle and AHA cleanser and have to say a little something about both. I have been using and loving the Neroli spray since Lisa sent a sample all summer- The smell is DIVINE and it's a key ingredient to my fabulous foundation looks all summer but as the weather has chilled and the humidity has disappeared I am feeling a tightness/dryness. So I ordered more of the Moisturizing Spray which is also amazing just doesn't have the added bonus of the Neroli spray smell- though it's a pleasant one--- no marks off for smell for the moisturizing spray-- just that Neroli spray has that as a bonus to it's performance. After Moosie's rave about the AHA products from MMBB being gentle enough for her sensitive skin I had to try them. I found the AHA Cleanser a wonderful addition to my skincare. I still use emu soap but the AHA Cleanser makes my skin feel amazingly soft yet is still moisturizing too. I still use emu oil as my moisturizer since it just seems to be the best fit for me but I am now hooked on the AHA Cleanser as part of my skincare routine!! Can't wait to try the new sprays!!
FOTD
Tanya-- This is the darker foundation color I recently made for myself-- I am really loving how well it matches. I don't have to add Beach to get my face/body match. This is actually a photo taken with flash--- no ghost mask and everything seems to "go together." This is what I try to achieve with foundation match--- from a distance, does face seem to go with rest of skin? In reality, my face is lighter than body so if I match my face only I look like ghost face/regular body.

*So it's Friday and I am happily awaiting DH's arrival from travel this week. He left Tues. morning and I sure do miss him. It's funny because when he walks in and I give him a hug- everything about him hits me--it just feels good. I always sleep so much better when he's home too. I definitely appreciate our time together with all this travel.
*My daughter is ruining my "social life." Tonight is last home football game of the season which means I have to drop her off and pick her up when I really just want to crack open a beer and relax on the couch with DH all night. *sigh* Tomorrow she has home cross country meet to deal with-- so I am guessing an early morning drop-off for that. Sometimes I do wish she could drive, but that will be a while for her.
*Jack- the Jack Russell Terrier- ran off again this morning/last night.
Sully (beagle) ratted him out again. My youngest says "I think Jack is gone again. Sully is whining and Jack isn't around." So Sully and I are hot on his trail after the bus took my youngest off to school. Found him in almost the exact same spot--- he was hanging out in a yard with this chocolate lab... both are just snoozing in the grass happy as can be LOL. Of course I don't think this the only place Jack went on his escapade... his collar was caked in cow manure--- not really sure where he found that... makes me wonder what time he went AWOL. LOL Sully seemed ticked that he didn't get a chance to roll in some cow manure. Dogs!!*Made some body scrub using Polynesian Red for myself and DD. Inan-- you'd be so jealous. LOL. I am eagerly awaiting my additions I ordered this week-- should arrive midway next week.
*Weather was raining yesterday but it's gorgeous today. Really cooled down and has that fall feel. Makes me think I need to break out pumpkin smells rather than Polynesian Red like Inan.
*LisaLu sent me a sample of the AHA cleanser she has. I kept putting off trying it because I really like my emu oil soap but I decided last night I better try it or else. I couldn't believe how soft my face felt after use. Only used once but now I am wondering why I didn't try it sooner. I think I've got another MMBB addiction product.
*Random thoughts over- back to regular programming.
All looks are Dayna Dark applied using MMBB Neroli spray. *just makes me happy smelling it :-D Red cleansing sponge damp method.
Beach applied as bronzer.

Oct. 15-
Glow- Violet Vesper
Eyes- HIP Secretive as base. HIP brown cream liner on upper waterline. Gilded Beige (I should use this more-- it's rather interesting color) all over lid below crease. Earthy Girl (brows all looks) and in crease< so pretty with Gilded Beige--- it reminds me of this look that was in the Victoria's Secret catalogs--- this earthy brown crease color with this interesting light color along inner corners. Luminous White Gold as brow highlight and inner corner drama.
Lips- Lip Butta
Also took night photo--- this is no touch-ups and at nearly midnight--- not too shabby?
Oct. 16-
Eyes- Uber simple--- Rustic all over lid below crease. Luminous White Gold as brow highlight.
Lips- Lip Butta
Oct 17-
Glow- Whisper Pink
Eyes- Blink Bling--- I'd sent Cavano a sample of this recently and she was saying how she liked that it was a silvery color yet golden. So I had to revisit it. I agree with her-- it is a neat color. I keep looking at myself in the mirror today because this isn't a typical look for me, but I'm liking it. Earthy Girl in crease to keep somewhat neutral. Last I used Milan Gelle Drops lining outer eye with just it. Then patting IceC over the GD line. IceC is a dark blue/black yet has a somewhat earthiness too? Rather complex but it works for me when I typically shy away from cool eye colors. Luminous White Gold as brow highlight and inner corner.
Lips- Lip Butta with a little Showin' Some Skin dabbed on.
Hi All,
First let me say that I will be "closed" next week--- Oct. 4- 13. I have visitors coming and can't assure I will be able to get to "work." So if you are planning to do an order, please do that this week because those orders I have not received payment for by Friday morning will not be attended to until after 13th. Sorry about this but kids have break and family comes first.
Sorry I've been somewhat MIA- just busy doing Dayna's Minerals stuff along with being mom. DD is a tutor for HS- she does this twice a week so I have to pick her up. She also decided to be the Cross Country team manager which means one night of practice (I use it as an opportunity to get some running in) and drop off/pick up Saturday for meets. So she's my source of most running around right now.
I got the Wen cleansing conditioner (Sweet Almond Mint) and have used twice. Preliminary thoughts. It does seem to cleanse my hair (described as a forest of skinny trees once- I have lots of hair but it is baby fine texture) perfectly--- not too drying like traditional shampoo. I haven't had breakouts (which is common when I use conditioner) and this would be the week for breakouts too. I haven't "shampooed" since Sunday evening and right now- Tues. noonish- it isn't greasy at the roots and feels pretty decent. My hair does seem very shiny but that could be due to darker hair color? Cons- PRICE. It's $30 for 16 oz. PLUS shipping. I saw QVC sells larger more economical ones but still pricey IMO. Also the directions have "pumps" as amount-- between 16- 40 (longer hair) which can be a real PITA. I only use about 1/2 that--- my hair is very short and I know the label says more is better (there's a great marketing ploy) but I truly feel that if I've evenly distributed and covered my hair, more is just going to wash away in the rinse. FaceFab told me Sally's Beauty has a "dupe" which I picked up yesterday but I notice the ingredients aren't the same- but I will try that too. Sally's one is $11 for 12 oz.
Here's the window treatment I was talking about- I just delivered table runners and took photos. I am wanting something similar in my house now--- that's the bad thing about doing window treatments- if it turns out spectacular I want to replicate in my home. LOL
Here's the looks since I last posted. As usual foundation is Dayna Dark mixed with bit of Beach. Applied damp with MMBB Neroli spray and red cleansing sponge. Beach applied as bronzer dry after. Max Factor Lash Lift Mascara in all looks.
Sept. 23
-This is my attempt at Ldlrenhen's smoky eye look with Puppy Love quad.
Blush- Mauving On Up

Lips- Sally Hansen Mineral in Ruby
Sept. 24
-Glow/blush- Cloud Nine
Eyes- Cocoa Mauve Duo--- Light all over lid below crease. Cocoa Mauve in crease. *No time today and this combo just always works.
Liner- first I did Milan Gelle Drop line (no minerals) and then patted Tealy over this to give very intense color playoff. Luminous White Gold as highlight.
Lips- e.l.f. plumping in Champagne
Sept. 26-
Glow- Bronzed Goddess
Eyes- Hi Jack all over lid below crease. Baby Popo in crease, HIP Brown liner for upper line. Monave white pencil for lower waterline.
Lips- Sally Hansen Lip Inflation in Sheer Mocha
Sept. 29-
Blush- Empress' New Clothes
Eyes- HIP Secretive as base, Empress' New Clothes all over lid below crease. Cocoa Mauve (dark) in outer crease. Milan Gelle Drops applied without minerals and then Leaping Lizard patted over it. Luminous White Gold as brow and inner corner highlight.
Lips- NYC liner and Sally Hansen Lip Inflation in Sheer Mocha.
This week I was asked by Yuko to do a color inspired by her new puppy Popo. Of course I had to do this for many reasons- #1 who could deny Yuko anything? She's such a sweetie. #2 I saw a lot of potential in Popo-- a soft, golden brown with a slight glow about it- not sparkle.-
since Yuko also wanted it to go well with another color of mine she
loves called Hush Hush. Since I'd already done Miss Gigi, I thought I
might do a theme- "Going To the Dogs" or "Who Let the Dogs Out?" so I
also made Hi "Jack" after my khaki and white Jack Russell Terrier which
is a yellow light khaki--- it actually almost blends into my skin-
great base color I am thinking- with the same slight sheen/glow of Baby
Popo. Already a favorite of many is Miss Gigi a bold reddish brown with
lots of sparkle. And then I did Mr. Sully, after our beagle who is
mostly black. Mr. Sully is a deep dark brown with a hint of coppery
sparkle. So here are swatches of these new additions to Dayna's
Minerals. So let's do a vote--- should I do this eye collection as
Going To the Dogs or Who Let the Dogs Out- or is there some other nifty
name someone can think of? I will be selling these as a collection for
a discounted price, but they can be bought individually also. It would
be $20 for 5 gm jars of these "pups" at regular prices so I was
thinking all 4 for $17. I am sure you want to see swatches. So here
goes.
Then my "Director of Color Research"- also know as Cavano- contacted me about duplicating a look, not to mention she put in her two cents about what color "Baby Popo" should be. LOL She wanted this Cocoa Mauve look that was just two eye colors but quite beautiful. So yesterday I came up with these two. I think they are quite gorgeous too. Cocoa Mauve is a cocoa color that also looks somewhat mauve. The lighter color is somewhat skin color version but not too much glimmer. So I had too many choices for today's eye look but I opted for the Cocoa Mauve duo with a little Hi "Jack" as brow highlight since I was rather in a hurry today. So make sure you check out FOTD and see Cocoa Mauve in a look
.
Also something for Alice--- here are the two kind of spice jars that I have found at WalMart for my MMU storage
I have 4 FOTD since last time. The pictures were really lousy Sept 9- so this is the best that I found out of those ones. As usual the foundation is Dayna Dark with a bit of Beach using MMBB Neroli spray-- breakouts disappeared when I stopped using the GoW grapefruit hydrosol- so I've learned my lesson. Stick with what works and who cares if something goes to waste... better waste than breakouts right? Red cleansing sponge was the tool for the foundation applications. Brows are done with Earthy Girl. Also Beach as bronzer to make face/neck match.
Sept 9--- Lousy photos Boo!! but did review on Essential Tools brushes I just purchased Yah!!! All brushes are the Essential Tools brush- see a couple posts back for photos
Beach was applied using the blush brush- it is quite fluffy and just slightly scratchy. So not as luxurious as BE soft focus face brush but very good for $2.
Blush- Mauving On Up. (Mineral/Bronzer brush--- using "mineral end"- this was less scratchy than the blush brush and what's great about this brush is that it has the blush (mineral) end and fiber optic (bronzer) in one brush-- excellent choice for travel!)
Glow- Bronzed Goddess using FO end of above brush--- this one is rather "springy" feeling--- it doesn't have as many FO bristles so it feels a little different than FO brushes from Lumiere that I own. But for $2 for double ended brushes-- great brush!!
Eyes- HIP Secretive as base- SSS using Dual blending/smudger brush--- LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this brush!!! It was $1 and the blending end is comparable to the Sonia Kashuk black handle one. The smudger end is somewhat like a pencil brush- more dense and rather pointed end but SOOO soft still. Awesome brush. Dark Chocolate applied to crease using the single ended blending brush. This one isn't as soft as the dual end but softer IMO than Sonia Kashuk one with white handle. Well worth the $1. Empress' New Clothes applied to middle using Dual Blending end. Jane Dark Brown Cream Liner using Ms. Makeup Lip brush--- Slightly Smooshy for this purpose... bristles too long IMO so it took longer than a stiff slanted brush. Max Factor Lash Lift Mascara.
Lips- Sally Hansen Mineral in Limited Edition Shade 2 (One of the $2.50 for 2 ones)
Wed. Sept 10-
Beach- applied with Powder Brush- Very Fluffy!! Tiny bit of scratch but not anything like a BE natural brush. Worthwhile for the $2 price tag.
Blush- Loca Mocha using the blush brush
Glow- Cloud Nine using Fiber Optic end of mineral bronzer brush
Also found Almay Bright Eyes cream for $1.99 at Big Lots. Used the Pink Glow as my base.
Eyes- Peach Fuzz-using blender
Stunning using blender
Jane Dark Brown Cream Liner using slanted liner brush.
Max Factor Lash Lift Mascara
Lips- Botanics Maple Liner and Sally Hansen Mineral in Ruby--- this is a great color to brighten teeth. IMO.
Sept 11
Let me say again how much I love MMBB Neroli spray to do my damp foundation application--- it smells wonderful and it does a great job and I don't get breakouts like I sometimes get from other sprays/hydrosols.
Blush- Coral Breeze Blush brush
Glow- Illumination using above brush
Eyes- Almay Bright Eyes Pink Glow as base.
Pick Me Up Pink foiled inner corner
Haute Stuff in crease
Chocoholic as outer V
Jane Dark Brown Cream Liner
Max Factor Lash Lift Mascara
Lips- Botanics Maple liner Sally Hansen Mineral Limited Edition color #1
Cocoa Mauve LOOK--- What do you think Cav? Do I have the eye colors right?
Sept 12-
Glow- Illumination... I was in hurry so I didn't mark down brushes I used
Eyes- HIP Secretive as base. Lt. cocoa mauve color all over lid below crease. Cocoa Mauve in cease Jane Dark Brown Cream Liner Max Factor Lash Lift Mascara. Hi "Jack" as brow highlight.
Lips- Wet N Wild 33210 and some Sally Hansen one. Told you I was in too big of a hurry to make proper notes. LOL
